MARTIN WENTZEL AKA THE FLYING BARBER STARTED HIS CAREER IN HAIRSTYLING AT THE AGE OF 19 IN 1984. AT THE TIME HE WAS A PUPIL FROM THE “CHRISTIAAN”( PIET HOUTENBOS) GENERATION.AT STUDIO KAPPERS HE LEARNED THE BASICS OF HAIR AND FELL IN LOVE WITH HAIRSTYLING. 1984-1988 WORKED IN VARIOUS SALONS IN AMSTERDAM, ROTTERDAM , DEN HAAG, UTRECHT, ARNHEM. ALLREADY HE WAS GETTING IN CONTACT WITH THE FASHION PART OF HAIRSTYLING IN WHICH HE FOUND HIMSELF A MORE REWARDING INVOLVEMENT THROUGH CREATIVITY AND CONTACT WITH OTHER CREATIVES IN THE BUSINESS.STARTS WORKING REGULARY WITH PHOTOGRAPHERS AND STYLISTS TO EXPRESS HIS ART AND VISION. HE FINDS INSPIRATION IN DEVELOPMENT OF TOOLS, TECHNIQUES AND STYLING PRODUCTS AND INTEREST IN DIFFERENT HAIRCULTURES. 1988-1995 MARTIN TRAVELLES EUROPE AND WORKS IN PARIS, MILANO AND VIENNA. IN HOLLAND HE FURTHER DEVELOPS THE ART OF HAIRSTYLING AND STARTS DOING THE SHOWS FROM THE VARIOUS ART SCHOOLS IN HOLLAND.THESE SHOWS ALSO ALLOWED HIM TO GROW HIS TECHNIQUES AND REALIZE THEM ON THE MODELS FOR THE DESIGNERS.HERE HE MEETS THE DESIGNERS OF THE FUTURE. WITH A STRONG SIGNATURE HE MAKES & LEAVES HIS MARK IN THE BUSINESS. HE LEARNS YOU NEED A STRONG CHARACTER, TECHNIQUES AND VISION TO BE PART OF THE PHOTOGRAPHY, ADVERTISEMENT , FASHION WORLD. 1995 - 2006 MARTIN BECOMES PART OF THE FIRST 8 CREATIVES THAT JOIN THE HOUSE OF ORANGE. HIS WORK AND TALENT COULD GROW EVEN MORE. IN COOPERATION WITH H.O.O. HE WORKS TOGETHER WITH THE TOP DUTCH PHOTOGRAPHERS AND STYLISTS, DESIGNERS. HE WORKS IN PARIS AND VIENNA FOR VARIOUS CLIENTS BUT KEEPS HIS ROOTS IN AMSTERDAM. DEVELOPS AND INITATES VARIOUS HAIRPROJECTS AND HAIRSHOWS. IN THESE YEARS HE WORKS AT THE TOP FROM THE DUTCH FASHIONINDUSTRY AND DEVELOPS A MORE REFINED STYLE IN HAIRSTYLING. 2002-2012 MARTIN STARTS UP THE HAIRSCHOOL, THE FIRST AND ONLY SCHOOL FOR HAIRSTYLING AT THAT TIME.THE 18 YEARS IN THE BUSINESS ALLOWED HIM TO SHARE HIS TECHNIQUES IN A SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT. FIRST YOU HAVE TO BE THE INFORMATION YOU SHARE, ONLY THEN YOU CAN GIVE THIS TO THE STUDENTS. WITH THE HAIRSCHOOL HE CREATED A NEW BLUEPRINT FOR EDUCATION ABOUT SPECIALIZED HAIRSTYLING FOR ADVERTISEMENT AND THE FASHION INDUSTRY. BY SHARING HIS KNOWLEDGE, HIS PUPILS WERE ABLE TO LEARN AND GROW IN A SAFE SCHOOLING ENVIRONMENT AND THEREFORE HAVE A MORE EMOTIONAL INTUITIVE CREATIVE TECHNICAL BASE WHEN THEY STARTED TO WORK IN THE BUSINESS THIS BLUEPRINT RESULTED IN THE INTEREST FROM THE HAIRDRESSING INDUSTRY AND WAS SOON TO BE TRANSLATED TO VARIOUS OTHER SCHOOLS.THE HAIRSCHOOL AS A TRAINING CENTRE DELIVERED A LOT OF INSPIRED TALENTED STYLISTS WHO WORK IN THE TOP NOW. HE EDUCATED AND INSPIRED AROUND 500 PUPILS WHOM HE LEARNED THE PROFESSION OF HAIRSTYLIST. 2012 MARTIN STOPS WITH THE HAIRSCHOOL TO WORK ON FRESH CONCEPTS FOR HAIRSTYLING AND EDUCATION 2006 - 2011 HE STARTS AND RUNS A CREATIVE SPACE WHERE HE INTWINES A PHOTOSTUDIO AND HAIRDRESSER STORE. HE CALLS IT CUTTING CULTURES.THE SPACE IS LIKE A “LIVING” ROOM.IN THESE YEARS HE USES THE SPACE AS A PLACE FOR MEETING AND WORK & PLAY GROUND FOR HAIRSTYLISTS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, ARTISTS & OTHER DISCIPLINES. IN 2003 THE HAIRSCHOOL STARTS WORKING TOGETHER WITH REDKEN, 2003-2012. MARTIN BECOMES CREATIVE ART DIRECTOR FOR REDKEN AND IN THIS FUNCTION DOES THE VARIOUS CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS FOR AND WITH REDKEN.THROUGH AND WITH THE HAIRSCHOOL AS A TOOL, REDKEN WAS ABLE TO MAKE A STRONG CONNECTION WITH THE FASHION INDUSTRY HIS PUPILS BECAME PART OF THE TEAMS ON AMSTERDAM FASHIONWEEK WHERE HE AND OTHER TALENTED COLLEAGES DID THE HAIR FOR THE DESIGNERS AND THERE SHOWS. AS ART DIRECTOR, CHEF DE CABINE HE HAS BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR OVER 100 SHOWS IN THE PERIOD 2004-2012 ALL ATTENDED ON AMSTERDAM FASHION WEEK. 2012- WORKS 31 DAYS ON A TV PROGRAM WHO’S IN, WHO’S OUT. AN INTERACTIVE SERIE WHERE HE WAS RESPONSABLE FOR A MORE FASHIONABLE LOOK OF THE ACTORS & ACTRICES. 2011- HEDEN HE WORKS & DEVELOPS PERSONALIZED COLLECTIONS OF SPECIALIZED TOOLS & TECHNIQUES WHICH HE PHOTOGRAPHES AND CATEGORIZES INTO USABLE KNOWLEDGE FOR THE HAIRSTYLING FUTURE. “THE REDISCOVERY OF HAIR.” THAT WHAT HE DEVELOPS IS REVERSIBEL, NON DESTRUCTABLE, MEANING IT IS ALL BASED ON TEMPORARY CHANGE THAT CAN BE UNDONE, RETURNING TO THE NATURAL STATE OF THE HAIR. HE HAS TAKEN THE TIME 2 DEVELOP PRODUCTS AND THERE TECHNIQUES. IN SEARCH FOR PRACTICALLITY, AND THE USE OF THEM.HE CREATES TOOLS WHICH ALLOW YOU TO PLAY WITH THE HAIR AND CREATE GREAT HAIRSTYLES. HE HAS FOCUSED ON WHAT IS OUT THERE AND HE HAS SEEN THE SPACE(NICHE) FOR HAIRSTYLING REVOLUTIONS.BEAUTY TODAY, FRESH TOMORROW. HE HAS CREATED AN ALPHABET FOR HAIRSTYLING.NOW HE IS READY TO LEARN YOU HOW TO WRITE HAIR FOR ALL WHO LIKE “HAIRYTALES”. THE NEW COMPANY IS CALLED “WE LIKE HAIR” SEE YOU IN THE FUTURE.
